Faculty of Health Sciences Celebrates the Annual World Health Day
It is the tradition of the Faculty of Health Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria to join institutions and organizations around the world to celebrate the WHO day.
The World Health Day is celebrated every year on the 7th of April. This event provides institutions and organizations with unique opportunity to mobilize action around a specific health topic of concern.
The theme of the 2017 World Health Day campaign is ‘Let’s Talk about Depression.” This is a theme of high relevance to all as depression affects people of all ages, thus a better understanding of what depression is, and how it can be prevented and managed will help improve on quality of life.
Presentation and activities shall include:
- Pre & post assessment of depression levels of participants
- Depression: global and national statistics
- Depression as a clinical condition
- Depression: risk and protective behaviours/factors
- Depression as a life experience
- Depression: let’s talk management (music and laughter therapies)
The Faculty of Health Sciences warmly invites staff of the National Open University of Nigeria, Students and the General Public to be part of this auspicious celebration.
